SF Business Tax Change Ahead image
The Office of the Mayor in partnership with the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Office of the Treasurer and Tax Collector, and the Office of Small Business are joining forces to inform the more than 90,000 businesses in San Francisco about changes to the business tax structure; approved overwhelmingly by voters in November of 2012 with a broad coalition of support from local businesses.

In 2014, the City will phase in a Gross Receipts Tax and reduce the Payroll Expense Tax over the next five years. The Gross Receipts Tax applies to businesses with more than $1 million in gross receipts, exempting most small businesses. Business Registration Fees are also changing for all businesses.

The City provides a variety of resources to assist your business during the transition. Businesses can also learn more through upcoming seminars and community presentations.
