In September 2008, the Civic Center District was designated as a “Sustainable Resource District”, promoting it as a future model for sustainability and cutting-edge environmental technologies. The SFPUC’s Sustainable Civic Center District Plan, funded by a grant from the EPA, will build on this vision.

Through the use of a collaborative and interactive process, the SFPUC will develop the Plan to guide physical changes in the neighborhood that could help to transform the District into a vital, active area that minimizes impacts on the environment by reducing water and energy consumption and employing District-scale resource recovery strategies.

As we begin the process of developing the Plan, we want to hear your thoughts on the current state of the Civic Center District and visions for its future. The first of three public workshops will be held on October 30, 2013.

Please RVSP as space is limited.

The Potsdamer Platz project incorporated district-scale water management practices that allow for efficient use of precious water resources while enhancing the local environment and community aesthetics.

This project and others represent current “best practices” in natural resources management in highly urban environments and will be referencing in developing the District Plan.
